Description

FLOCERT is looking for a structured and business-oriented Certification Analyst to strengthen our Americas team based in San José, Costa Rica.

In this role, you will coordinate and administer Fairtrade certification processes for assigned customers across South, North and Central America and the Caribbean. The position requires a high level of analytical capability, regulatory understanding and professional judgement, particularly in the context of ISO 17065-accredited certification systems.

You will report to the Regional Director Americas and work closely with auditors, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure independent, compliant and high-quality certification decisions.

Travel within and outside Costa Rica is required.

  • Job Share: Full-time (41 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • Location: FLOCERT QIS S.A. Office in San José, Costa Rica
  • Salary: Competitive package in line with qualifications and experience
  • Start date: 15 March 2026 or as soon as possible

Your responsibilities

  • Act as Certification Analyst responsible for a defined portfolio of Fairtrade customers in the Americas region
  • Evaluate companies and products against applicable Fairtrade Standards and internal certification procedures, including review of audit reports and taking certification decisions in line with ISO 17065 requirements
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct Fairtrade audits in assigned countries, including annual audit planning and follow-up of corrective actions
  • Ensure consistency, quality and timeliness of certification processes within assigned scope 
  • Communicate proactively with applicants, certified customers and auditors, providing structured guidance on certification requirements and responding to enquiries
  • Identify compliance risks and non-conformities and ensure appropriate follow-up actions in accordance with internal procedures
  • Act as account manager for assigned Key Accounts while safeguarding impartiality and conflict-of-interest requirements
  • Process Labeling Initiative requests and handle complex or special certification cases
  • Support the selection, onboarding and evaluation of external auditors
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of certification processes, tools and systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation in internal systems and ensure compliance with confidentiality and impartiality obligations
  • Participate in regional and global FLOCERT projects and foster cross-functional collaboration

Your qualifications, experience and skills

  • University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Business, Agronomy, Food Science, Law, Economics, Environmental or Social Sciences
  • Valid permission to work in Costa Rica
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in a certification, compliance, auditing or customer-oriented office environment
  • Experience with certification systems (e.g. organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000, ISO 14001) and familiarity with ISO 17065-accredited environments
  • Previous auditing experience
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Structured, reliable and accountable working style
  • Strong dedication to customer service combined with regulatory discipline
  • Strong motivation and commitment to credible social certification and assurance principles
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written)
  • Portuguese and/or French language skills would be a strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in multicultural environments
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools would be supportive
  • Technical knowledge of agricultural commodities such as coffee, bananas, flowers, sugar or fresh fruits would be advantageous
  • Experience in international trade would be nice to have
  • Experience in the food processing industry would be an asset
