Driving fairness in global trade: FLOCERT releases Annual Report 2024

22.05.2025

FLOCERT has published its Annual Report for 2024, highlighting strong performance and continued impact amid a volatile global economy. FLOCERT has remained focused on providing high-quality assurance services to its nearly 6,000 customers, maintaining financial stability and high operational performance.

In 2024, as the global certification body for Fairtrade, FLOCERT conducted 3,353 Fairtrade audits and validated approximately 612,000 global Fairtrade transactions,” said Thorsten Niklas, Managing Director of FLOCERT. “These transactions are worth around 2.6 billion EUR in producer sales and around 10 billion EUR in retail sales. In addition, we have carried out over 200 claim verification audits and issued 38 EDGE certificates, assessing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) practices. Collectively, our activities generated sales of €20 million.”

Among the 2024 milestones was the launch of FLOCERT’s Living Income and Living Wage SmartCheck, verification services that help retailers and businesses implement fair pay and wages for farmers and workers. FLOCERT also introduced an updated quality policy designed to harmonise further the competence of over 90 auditors from 45 countries.

In 2024, FLOCERT also refined its brand to position itself as the ideal strategic partner for ethical business transformation. FLOCERT now offers a comprehensive suite of solutions, including certification, claim verification, and tailored services — all backed by over 20 years of hands-on experience. This impact was made possible by a dedicated, purpose-driven team, whose efforts were recognised when FLOCERT won the “Great Place to Work” award in 2024.

Looking ahead to 2025, FLOCERT plans to expand its service portfolio, helping customers navigate challenges such as supply chain disruptions and emerging legal requirements. FLOCERT will remain steadfast in its mission to support organisations and companies in their journey toward fairer global trade, continuing to monitor that over two million workers and farmers in Fairtrade supply chains receive fair payment and the Fairtrade Premium.
