FLOCERT appointed as the independent field auditor for the ICE Commodity Traceability platform

28.08.2025

FLOCERT is pleased to announce it has been appointed by ICE Benchmark Administration Limited (IBA), a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), as the independent field auditor for the ICE Commodity Traceability platform (ICE CoT).

ICE CoT is a technology platform designed to facilitate the continued frictionless trade of cocoa and coffee within the European Union (EU) by automating the process of submitting, storing, validating and sharing due diligence information mandated by the EU’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Users of ICE CoT are required to upload supply chain data which is reviewed and tested against the ICE CoT methodologies.

FLOCERT will conduct audits in relation to the data submitted to ICE CoT by cocoa and coffee supply chain participants, including information on farm plots, lawful production processes and evidence, and the physical flow and traceability of cocoa and coffee in accordance with ICE CoT’s Data Inspection and Verification Programme. FLOCERT has co-developed this programme with IBA for ICE CoT.

“We are excited to collaborate with IBA to support ICE CoT,” said Thorsten Niklas, Managing Director of FLOCERT. “FLOCERT’s audit programme will use risk-based and random sampling methods to audit supply chain participants and their data at different stages of the supply chains of cocoa and coffee. This includes checking internal management systems, farm and traceability data, and tracking products back to the farmers and their fields, with audits done on-site or remotely.”

FLOCERT is proud to partner with IBA to support a technology platform that stores, tests and shares due diligence information required under the EUDR. In line with our vision of assuring fairness, we support traders in demonstrating that cocoa and coffee and related products are deforestation-free and lawfully produced when entering the EU market.
