FLOCERT transforms into an AG

19.10.2026

FLOCERT has successfully completed its conversion from a German limited liability company ("GmbH") to a (non-listed) stock corporation (in German: "Aktiengesellschaft", abbreviated "AG"). The new legal structure takes effect immediately.

This new setup also changes governance for the global assurance provider: The term of FLOCERT's previous Supervisory Board, which was in place for FLOCERT GmbH, has ended, and a new Supervisory Board is starting its term. It consists of the Chair, Dr. Beate Degen, as well as Detlev Grimmelt (Vice Chair), Prof. Dr. Lisa Fröhlich, Prof. Dr. Petrus Datuk Gimbad, and Dr. Nyagoy Nyong'o.

Dr. Thorsten Niklas, FLOCERT's CEO and Managing Director says "I would like to thank the outgoing Supervisory Board members for their dedication and hard work over the past few years. They have played an important role in ensuring FLOCERT's success as an efficient, credible, quality-driven assurance provider. I would also like to welcome the new Supervisory Board members. They bring a great mix of expertise, experience and backgrounds – including business development, finance, retail, sustainable supply chains, Fairtrade, and FLOCERT – and I am looking forward to working with them."

In line with the legal requirements for an AG, a change to FLOCERT's senior management structure also comes into effect: Bronwyn Page-Shipp, who is the Regional Director Africa and Deputy Director Operations, joins Thorsten Niklas on the newly established Management Board. As FLOCERT's Chief Regional Officer, she will also complement the senior management team alongside Thorsten Niklas and Natalie McLachlan, the Chief People and Governance Officer (CPGO).

The transformation into an AG allows FLOCERT to operate with maximum independence and underlines the impartiality of its certification decisions. FLOCERT's customers and business partners will continue to benefit from the credibility that comes with this impartiality.
