Verification

Verification is an attestation that specified requirements related to a product, process, system, program, or entity are fulfilled at a specific point in time (e.g., no pesticide residue in a product; claim on certain payments is correct). It can take the form of first-party (self-assessment), second-party (conducted by a supply chain partner or external advisor), or third-party (conducted by an independent certification body) verification. All three types contribute to responsible sourcing, with increasing levels of objectivity.
